INTRODUCTION:
Welding may be described as a process of uniting two pieces of metal or alloy by raising the temperature of the surfaces to be joined so that they become plastic or molten. This may be done with or without the application of pressure and with or without the use of added metal.
When welds are specified on engineering and fabrication drawings, a cryptic set of symbols issued as a sort of shorthand for describing the type of weld, its size, and other processing and finishing information. The purpose of this practical is to introduce you to the common symbols and their meaning.
